FrictionFlowThin is a powerful tool designed for engineers, hydrologists, and professionals working with fluid dynamics and porous media. The app provides two primary calculation options: Flow Rate Calculation and Flux Calculation, based on Darcy's Law.
1. Flow Rate Calculation:
Effortlessly compute essential parameters related to fluid flow through porous media using Darcy's Law:
•Hydraulic Conductivity (k): Determine the ease with which fluid can move through a porous medium.
◦Formula: k = Q / iA
◦Where: Q = Flow rate, i = Hydraulic gradient, A = Flow cross-sectional area
•Hydraulic Gradient (i): Calculate the slope of the energy gradient driving the fluid flow.
◦Formula: i = Q / kA
◦Where: k = Hydraulic conductivity, Q = Flow rate, A = Flow cross-sectional area
•Flow Cross-Sectional Area (A): Compute the area through which fluid flows.
◦Formula: A = Q / ki
◦Where: k = Hydraulic conductivity, Q = Flow rate, i = Hydraulic gradient
•Flow Rate (Q): Calculate the volume of fluid flowing through the porous medium.
◦Formula: Q = kiA
◦Where: k = Hydraulic conductivity, i = Hydraulic gradient, A = Flow cross-sectional area
2. Flux Calculation:
Calculate key parameters to understand fluid velocity and movement through porous media:
•Hydraulic Conductivity (k): Calculate the ease of fluid movement relative to the hydraulic gradient and flux.
◦Formula: k = V / i
◦Where: V = Darcy velocity or flux, i = Hydraulic gradient
•Hydraulic Gradient (i): Determine the driving force behind the fluid flow.
◦Formula: i = V / k
◦Where: k = Hydraulic conductivity, V = Darcy velocity or flux
•Darcy Velocity or Flux (V): Calculate the velocity of fluid flow through the medium.
◦Formula: V = ki
◦Where: k = Hydraulic conductivity, i = Hydraulic gradient
